Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking a Bali dolphin experience.

Where is Bali Marine Park and how long does it take to reach?

Bali Exotic Marine Park is on Jl. Raya Pelabuhan Benoa in South Denpasar, on the harbour side of the Bali Mandara toll road — a short transfer from Kuta, Sanur, Seminyak or Nusa Dua. Lovina, for wild dolphin watching, is on the north coast around three hours away, which is why that trip leaves before dawn and includes transport both ways.

Which programme suits a family with young children?

The Explorer Pass is the shortest and most affordable way in, and suits young children or a first look. Encounter and Discovery are the longer sessions with more time around the dolphins, always with a trained instructor present. Children join from age 1 with an adult in the same programme, and child pricing applies for ages 1 to 11. Tell us how old your children are and how confident they are in water, and we will say honestly which one fits.

Do you have anything suitable for honeymoon couples?

Two work well. Discovery+ books the session privately for your group, so there is nobody else sharing it. The other is the Lovina sunrise trip — and the private-boat version in particular: a small traditional outrigger, open sea and first light. Mention that you are on honeymoon when you message and we will pass it to the operator.

Can you handle large groups and multi-family bookings?

Yes, and it is worth messaging rather than booking online for these. Group sessions have limited places per time slot, so a party of fifteen may need splitting across two slots or moving to a private session. Send your total headcount and preferred date and we will come back with what is actually available.

Do you work with travel agents?

We do. If you are booking on behalf of clients, message us on WhatsApp with your agency name and the volume you usually handle, and we will confirm agent terms, availability windows and how your guests bookings are confirmed on the day.

Do I need to know how to swim?

For Lovina dolphin watching you stay dry on the boat, so swimming is not required — though the Dolphin Watching + Snorkeling option does put you in the water, so choose the plain boat trip if you would rather not. For in-water marine park programmes, life jackets are provided and an instructor is always present. Tell us your comfort level and we will recommend the right one.

Is hotel pickup available?

Lovina sunrise tours include round-trip pickup from South Bali hotels. For Bali Exotic Marine Park programs, pickup is an optional add-on — ask us on WhatsApp and we will confirm the fee for your area.

Should I choose Lovina dolphin watching or Bali Exotic Marine Park?

Choose Lovina to see wild dolphins in the open sea at sunrise, with no captivity involved. Choose a Bali Exotic Marine Park program for a hands-on, in-water encounter under instructor supervision. Not sure? Message us and we will help you decide.

Is swimming with dolphins in Bali ethical?

We only sell tickets for licensed, government-regulated operators. If avoiding captive-animal interaction matters to you, our Lovina Dolphin Watching tour is a wild, open-sea alternative where no dolphins are kept in captivity.

Is it safe to swim or interact with dolphins in Bali?

Yes. Every session is supervised by a trained instructor, and guests receive a safety briefing before entering the water. Guests with heart conditions, seizures, or certain medical conditions should inform staff at check-in.

How much does a dolphin program cost?

The Explorer Pass is the entry-level option and Discovery+ the private group package, with Encounter and Discovery in between — the Rates page lists the current price of every one. Lovina boat tours are priced separately and include hotel pickup, and come as a sharing boat, a private boat, or a version with snorkeling added.

What is the best time to see dolphins in Bali?

For the Bali Exotic Marine Park programs, sessions run daily at fixed times regardless of season. For wild dolphin watching in Lovina, the sea is calmest and sightings are most reliable from April to October, with an early sunrise departure.

How far in advance should I book?

A few days ahead is usually enough, but Indian school-holiday periods, Diwali week and the July–August peak fill early — for those, a week or more is safer. Message us with your preferred date and we will confirm what is open.

How do we pay, and can we pay by card?

Cash in Indonesian rupiah, bank transfer, and major credit and debit cards are accepted. Nothing is charged automatically when you use the booking form — that only prepares your details. We confirm the exact payment steps with you on WhatsApp before anything is paid.

Can we take photos and videos during the session?

Smartphone cameras are allowed during marine park sessions; professional cameras and GoPros are not permitted in the water area. On the Lovina boat you can film freely. If you want professional photos of your session, ask us before you book and we will check what the operator offers on your date.
